We are excited to introduce the 2017 Grand Marshal and Religious Honorees.  The Grand Marshal is Derek Woods and the Religious Honorees are Sr. Peggy Gannon, O.P., Sr. Joan Marie O’Leary, O.P. and Sr. Betty McLaughlin, O.P.

Derek Woods is one of the most prolific videographers to cover the people, places, and events related to the Bronx.  Derek Woods’ exposure to the borough’s diverse cultural and social scene, as well as his dedication to the Irish Community and his Irish heritage, certifies him as an outstanding Grand Marshal for the 19th Annual Throggs Neck St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  This year, we are pleased to honor three dedicated Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, New York who have been serving the Bronx community in many ways, for many years: Sr. Peggy Gannon, O.P. and Sr. Joan Marie O’Leary, O.P. serve the St. Frances de Chantal Parish, and Sr. Betty McLaughlin, O.P. serves St. Benedict’s Parish. They have spent decades ministering to the people of the Bronx in various capacities in schools, parishes and hospitals, and they are now volunteering at the Jeanne Jugan Residence and are especially helpful to those who are homebound, the elderly, and participants in their Cancer Support Groups and Bereavement Support Groups.  We celebrate their proud Irish heritage and their service and dedication to the Bronx community for so many years.

We also celebrate the lives of the Honorary Grand Marshals.  These individuals represent all facets of our Bronx Community and we are proud to honor them posthumously at the 19th Annual Throggs Neck St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
